Wishing you all a very happy and prosperous Vishu
Vishu is normally celebrated in Kerala as the new year of Keralites. It is marked on the 1st of Medam, based on the lunar calendar. It normally falls on the 14th of April, every year.
Vishu is celebrated among the farmers to celebrate the new sprouts of the fruits. All the young fruits are decorated in urulhi (a brass vessel) with konna poovu (a yellow colored flower which blooms on this particular occasion) gold, new cloth, coins, and sindhoor. It is believed that if you see all these things together on this particular morning, you will be blessed with all the prosperity through out the year.
My vishukkani
Today very early in the morning, mom woke me up and dressed me well while I was keeping my eyes closed, and took me to the pooja corner where everything was kept ready. After that dad gave me kaineettam (giving coins) but i denied. I didn’t actually know what was it for. I think I made him sad…. Sorry dad
